Remove Most Recent Files (Windows)

  1. The first thing that I do is get rid of recent files or now known as Quick access
  2. It is very easy to have all your saved files going to recent files
  3. You can  have 5 files in recent files named the same thing in different locations and you have no idea which one you really want.
  4. Every time you save a file it goes into Quick Access

Now let’s figure out how to stop saving files to Quick access. You will thank me for this one.

  • If you do not have File Explorer open; type in the search bar File Explorer and click on the File Explorer App
  • On the top left click on the File menu and select “change folder and search options”
  • Under the Privacy section click the clear button.  THIS DOES NOT remove any files from your computer
  • You are only removing the files from the Quick access List
  • Uncheck : Show recently used files in Quick access
  • Uncheck: Show frequently used folder in Quick access
  • Click OK
  • Now your files can be found exactly where you saved them
