What is Microsoft One Drive

OneDrive is FreeOneDrive is Microsoft’s storage service for hosting files in the cloud. It is available for free to all the owners of a Microsoft account. OneDrive offers you a simple way to store, sync, and share your files. Windows 10 uses OneDrive also to synchronize system settings, visual customizations, themes, app settings. What Microsoft does not tell you is the little tricks to get this gem working correctly for the way you want it to work.  If you purchased Office 365 for $$6.99 per month you get 1TB (1,000GB) plenty of space for getting started.

  • If you installed Office 365 on your PC or Mac you will have OneDrive, Skype, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Not bad for $6.99 per month
  • There’s also a business version for $12.50 per month per user with more features

Now the tricks to have this work correctly!  If you use OneDrive  there are times when you do not know if you saved the file to the cloud, (OneDrive) the computer, or recent files.  Have you ever got lost and tried to find a file and you saved it in Documents but it appears not to be the correct Document or not in the Documents folder ?

May I suggest first you stop your files going to Quick access on your PC. I added a movie to the post Removing Quick Access. This does not remove your files it just removes them from Quick Access.
